ML Vidas, who is the LEED/LBC consultant for Desert Rain, will lead a presentation about Living Building Challenge this Thursday morning in Bend. Everyone who works on Desert Rain attends one or more of these presentations, as it’s vital they everyone involved understand the project’s mission and goals. But the presentation is also open to people who are interested in learning more about LBC and Desert Rain. If you’d like to join us, just send an RSVP to me through the “contact” form on this blog. The presentation is at 7:30 a.m., so it’s early enough to learn some vital information and still get to work on time.
Also this week, the concrete forms will be removed from the cistern walls. The concrete has cured for about a week and is now strong enough to stand on its own. The curing process will continue for a few more weeks, but that can happen with the forms off. I’ll post pictures tomorrow. Activity will also pick up on the roofing.
Finally, Earth Day is this Saturday, April 21. There will be two tours through the Desert Rain site and home, led by the excellent contractors at Timberline Construction of Bend. I’ll post more information about times and other specifics this week. What a great way to celebrate Earth Day!
